Did you find that what you made note of on your post-it notes in your Think Aloud for this article help you to complete the CLOZE activity given today? If so, explain HOW the questions you asked on your post-its helped with the CLOZE activity. If NOT, what do you think you could do to change that? Do you think the “types” of questions you are asking in your Think Aloud could have anything to do with your comprehension of the text?
One thing that you can do to make your comments easier to post is to use a word processing document to answer the question first and then cut and paste it into the comments window on the blog. This would also prevent you from being embarrassed from spelling mistakes and typos showing up in public on the blog. You can run a spell check and, if you are in Word, you also have access to a Grammar check. ***Make your writing represent a person who knows what they are doing!!!*****
Take a moment to reflect on the article you read “The Story of Gold at Sutter’s Mill” and the story by Mark Twain, “All That Glitters”. Did you feel that the “think aloud” helped you to understand the two pieces of writing? Did “The Story of Gold at Sutter’s Mill” help you to understand “All That Glitters” more than if you had not read it? Did you feel the Likert Scales helped your group to discuss the story “All That Glitters”? Did anyone bring a new way of thinking about any of the questions given on “All That Glitters” in your group discussion? Did you understand the story any better after discussing it with your group?
***Please DISCUSS these questions on this blog. Do not just put yes or no answers, explain your answers thoroughly. Thank you.
